14 Day Juice Cleanse Journal – Day 6

Another one bites the dust! Day 6 of my Juice Cleanse Complete!

Today, started a bit sour with a bad combination of Grapefruit and Avocado. The two ingredients reacted badly together turning the drink an ugly brown and super acidic. The combination was undrinkable which was unfortunate for we only had one other bottle of juice made and we were heading out of the house for my mother’s doctor’s appointment. No time to make anymore. We ended up drinking the other delicious bottle of pomegranate and pineapple for breakfast. Since we live out in the country and it takes 40 minutes to an hour to get into the hub of the city, we make our trips into town count. After we went to her appointment, we did our rounds at the grocery stores.

We went to two different grocery stores. Aldi to get cheaper produce that we can buy non-organic and Harris Teeter where they have a nice organic selection. When doing a juice cleanse, the point is to cleanse the body of toxin and rejuvenate your cells. By intaking fruits and vegetables pumped with pesticide, in my opinion is counter productive. If possible, buying  organic produce even on a normal healthy lifestyle for the toxin present in produce can really mess with your system. Toxin present in pesticides may disrupt your hormones and nervous system.

A good rule of thumb for buying produce is if you can peel it like an orange you are safe to buy non-organic. In addition, the Environmental Working Group puts out a list every year called the Dirty Dozen Plus™ and the Clean Fifteen™. Recommend to at least stay away from the dirty dozen.

For this past week, we spent $156.15 for our juice cleanse. Today, we bought enough produce to last us the last week week of our juice cleanse. We spent $182.10 today. Wow! Seeing the lady ring up the items at Harris Teeter. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Never have I spent this much on produce before. This week, we bought a little more than for this past one because I desired to increase my intake up. The more the better I say on a juice cleanse.

Favorite Juice of the Day: Kickin’ Cucumber Melon (Please see Today’s Taste Test Review for the Recipe)

Least Favorite Juice of the Day: Grapefruit blended with Avocados

Challenges: When going out in public on a juice cleanse, it is difficult if you get hungry because if you did not prepare enough ahead of time you are going to go hungry. This is what happened to us today. Hopefully, in the future we will plan a little better before going out for the day and have a few safety drinks available.

Juice Cleanse Side Effects: Slipped my mind to tell you before that for the past few days, I have been waking up with eyes crusting over. In the beginning of the Juice Cleanse, I stated my mouth was very bitter. In addition to that, my tongue was white and a thick fluid would come off when I would rub my teeth across the top on my tongue. Today, I was able to scrape most of this white gunk off and my tongue is super pink. My taste buds feel much more clear and the bitter taste is completely gone. This morning I had a wonderful elimination. The best so far. Really feeling my body cleanse itself. My face does not look as irritated as before and acne has cleared away, yet I still see more pimples breakout. Have a little bit of a sore throat that comes and goes. As I am writing, feeling an awkward hot sensation in my left arm as well.
